Cartogram

A cartogram is a map where area is not preserved. They are used many of times to represent the size of populations relative to the area in which they inhabit. There are two main types of cartograms: area and distance. An area cartogram illustrates the relative sizes of the populations of the countries by scaling the areas of each country in proportion to its population. Distance cartograms are used to show relative travel times and directions from verticals in a network. The Cartogram map above shows the distribution of the populations in the United States.
